Sabah Electricity's Banggi Island station is a solar-battery-diesel hybrid supplying homes, schools, and businesses on the island. Current owner documentation gives 1,200 kWp of PV, a 720-cell gel battery bank, and eight diesel generators ranging from 200 kW to 1,000 kW against an approximately 950 kW served load. A Leonics engineering presentation for the project records a 1,200 kWp array, 2,075 kW of inverter capacity, a 2,880 kWh main battery bank, and 1,650 kVA of diesel capacity. The station has received battery, inverter, and diesel upgrades and remains in service, but no source found provides a current annual renewable-energy percentage.

Research status
Operating under Sabah Electricity as of the owner's current ESG account reviewed in July 2026. That account says battery and inverter upgrades and added diesel capacity have sustained performance. Commissioning dates conflict by phase/source: TNB describes commissioning in 2013, while Leonics records commercial operation on 25 January 2014 and operation since February 2014.
