Chavanga's village power station on the remote Tersky Coast is a wind-solar-diesel system commissioned in 2015. A Kola Science Centre technical monograph gives the Chavanga-specific configuration as 50 kW of wind, 32.4 kW of PV, and two 88 kW FG Wilson P110 diesels. The often-repeated 120 kW wind and 75 kW solar figures are totals across the Chavanga, Chapoma, and Tetrino program, not Chavanga alone. Public records show wind-equipment repairs in 2017-2018, diesel replacement work and local line repair through 2025, but no recent measured renewable share.

Research status
The Murmansk regional encyclopedia says the wind-solar-diesel station has operated since August 2015. Wind units were sent for repair in October 2017 and returned in November 2018. The Tersky District's 2025 program records diesel-power-plant replacement work in Chavanga as 100% complete by 31 December 2025, after a 2024 low-voltage line repair; it does not disclose replacement genset models or present operating performance.

    Regional sources place operation from August 2015, while a later engineering presentation gives September 2015 commissioning. The difference likely reflects phased handover, so both dates remain labeled rather than silently collapsed. [7][10]

  • Wind repair

    The five wind units were sent for repair in October 2017 and returned to Chavanga on 1 November 2018. Local reporting also described restoration work on the wind-solar-diesel station in 2018. [10][9]

  • Diesel and network renewal

    The district program records a 4.275 million-ruble 0.4 kV line repair completed in 2024 and 6.501 million rubles of Chavanga diesel-station replacement work completed in 2025. Continued fuel deliveries confirm the system remains diesel-dependent. [8]
