The Flacq record is the grid-connected, behind-the-meter hybrid-energy system at the Flacq Coeur de Ville shopping center and Super U supermarket in Mauritius. DHYBRID's current project page describes 1.2 MWp of PV, 2,000 kVA of diesel generation, electrical storage of undisclosed size, chilled thermal storage, and its Universal Power Platform. Solar is self-consumed rather than exported in the current operating description, while central cooling and refrigeration create ice or cold storage from surplus daytime solar for use at night.
- Research status
- Operating commercial installation. The shopping center opened in June 2015, the official 1.146 MW PV application received a conditional permit in August 2015, and later accounts place formal plant inauguration in 2017. A 2023 environmental-award report still identified Super U Flacq's 1.146 MW PV system in use. DHYBRID continues to publish the installation as a reference project, but no audited post-commissioning production, diesel savings, battery availability, or storage capacity was located.
