SELCO Foundation's Neelakantarayanagaddi project is a very small centralized 48 VDC solar microgrid built for 41 houses plus a school and three temples in a river-island village in Karnataka's Yadgir area. The documented design uses 1.2 kWp of EmmVee PV, Primetech batteries, a Phocos 48 V controller, overhead DC distribution, 3 W LED lights, phone charging, per-house fuses and both local and remote timing/monitoring. The archived '1,600 Ah' storage label is electrically misleading, and the source deck itself contains an unresolved energy-versus-Ah conflict.

Research status
The system was documented as installed and operating in SELCO's 2014-2016 program material, but no reliable site-specific 2024-2026 operating report was found. A 2016 report said residents crossed to the mainland to charge mobile phones while monsoon flooding isolated the village. That raises a service-availability question but does not establish whether the microgrid had failed, lacked sufficient charging capacity, or was unavailable to those residents. Present battery condition, replacements, collections, expansion and grid arrival remain unknown; the record should not continue to label the project operational without qualification.

Battery source conflict
The case material lists eight 12 V, 200 Ah Primetech batteries and elsewhere a 48 V, 400 Ah bank, which would equal 19.2 kWh nominal; the same deck also labels storage as 9.6 kWh. The archived record's 1,600 Ah is merely the sum of eight battery Ah ratings and is not a valid bank rating. The reviewed sources do not reconcile whether the 9.6 kWh figure reflects an earlier four-battery configuration, usable energy, or a documentation error. [3][4][7]
