This record is the Cronimet Chrome/Thaba open-pit chromium mine near Thabazimbi, Limpopo, and duplicates the legacy page titled 'Thabazimbi Chrome Mine Microgrid.' The plant commissioned in November 2012 as a 1 MWp PV system integrated with two 800 kVA diesel generators through SMA's Fuel Save Controller. A 500 kVA utility connection was added in 2014, changing the operating boundary from fully off-grid to a solar-diesel-grid hybrid. There is no battery storage in the documented installation.

Research status
SMA still presents the project as a current reference and states operation since November 2012, but the latest project-specific performance account found is from 2015. No 2022–2026 mine-owner report confirms PV condition, mine production status, realized generation, or retirement.
