Optimal Power Solutions commissioned a remote solar-battery-diesel microgrid for the Indian Coast Guard in the Andaman Islands in 2014. The site-specific commissioning record gives 75 kWp of PV, a 240 V/2,400 Ah battery bank, two 30 kVA diesel generators, two proprietary 20 kVA parallel inverter modules, and a Station Control Module with remote monitoring. A later OPS portfolio page separately describes a broader eight-system Coast Guard island portfolio totaling 320 kWp; the relationship between that aggregate and the 75 kWp commissioning record is not explained.
- Research status
- Commissioned in October 2014 according to the system supplier. OPS continues to present the Coast Guard island microgrids in its current project portfolio, and a 2024 Indian power-sector report lists the 75 kW project, but neither source establishes present operation, availability, or component condition. No site-specific failure, replacement, expansion, performance, or decommissioning update was located through July 2026, so current operating status is unknown.
