This record covers the solar-and-storage work of Oneida Nation of the Thames in Ontario, Canada. It is not the Oneida Indian Nation in New York and has no connection to the 250 MW/1,000 MWh Oneida Energy Storage project in Haldimand County. Federal and Ontario governments funded a community-housing solar microgrid in 2016. The clearest project-specific later account is JAZZ Solar's 2021 installation of a 650 kW net-metered solar system with battery storage spanning the Oneida Nation School, Community Centre, Health and Education Centre and Seniors Citizens Home. Oneida subsequently formed Onyota’a:ka Kahsatst^sla’ Ltd., also branded Solar Energy: OK Ltd., to own and operate community solar assets and train an Oneida energy team.

Research status
Oneida's current environment page describes existing solar systems under monitoring, safety and troubleshooting training, supporting continued community operation, while JAZZ documents the 2021 650 kW campus project. JAZZ catalogs a Family Healing Lodge solar job under 2024, but Oneida's owner page says the program is working on its installation; completion and capacity are therefore unverified. Public sources do not disclose the Oneida battery's power, energy, chemistry, manufacturer, commissioning tests or recent performance. A 2023 federal release describes Taykwa Tagamou Nation and Oneida collectively as having built 'Community Solar (1 MW) and Storage (38 kWh) projects'; those ratings cannot safely be assigned to Oneida alone.
